Karina “Volk” Lobo.
Grown in a rural environment, in the interior of Bahia, I am a taxidermist, visual artist, full-time illustrator and student of Agronomic Engineering. I started Volkranios in 2017 and with a perspective of rebirth. Bringing the dead to life and turning them into art was something I always wanted. The curiosity about death, the passage, and the bones, started when I wondered why they were so shunned by society, even in words. I created Volkranios as a new way of interpreting these ignored beings. Animals that previously had their carcasses abandoned, today have an artistic resignification, making them remembered, venerated and adored. All of my pieces are of animals that died naturally or accidentally, I do not agree with sport fighters.
I also don't work with wild animals, which is prohibited by law!
The small-scale work makes the piece come to me naturally, some people wait months and even years to have their specific pieces personalized.

Sempre estive envolvida na natureza, prestando atenção aos ciclos, internalizando as poesias e ressignificando a morte.
Para mim, trabalhar com ossos de animais é mais do que uma estética, é um trabalho imbuído de respeito e significado.
Os nossos ancestrais utilizavam de ossos como ferramentas, adornos e instrumentos cotidianos na vida, e minha linha de trabalho visa resgatar essa essência de forma ética, respeitosa e bela.
Ressignificar seres antes ignorados, vem movendo minha vida desde então, se tornando a minha principal atividade diária.
Quem me conhece sabe o quanto eu amo profundamente o que faço e o quanto eu amo e respeito esses seres.
Trazer arte em ossos para o mundo é prazeroso principalmente pela oportunidade em quebrar o gigante tabu relacionado a morte e a finitude, perpetuando assim através da arte, uma memória, uma lembrança, uma vontade de viver através dela. 🖤
